A Fredericton woman who was allowed to serve a jail term in the community for drug and property-damage crimes now finds herself in custody, alleged to have violated the conditions of her sentence.

Shelley Darlene Gosman, 38, of Doone Street, had faced June 13, 2023, charges of mischief causing damage to a 2023 Dodge Ram 1500 belonging to Budget Rent a Car and a threat to damage the business’s property, as well as to June 16, 2023, counts of cocaine possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime.

Shelley Darlene Gosman (Photo: Facebook)

She originally denied the charges and was scheduled to stand trial on them last year, but she later admitted to the property-damage offence and a lesser, included charge of simple possession of cocaine.

Gosman was sentenced Feb. 12 to a 12-month conditional sentence for those crimes. A conditional sentence is a jail term, but one that an offender is permitted to serve in the community subject to conditions, which typically include house arrest and/or a curfew, among others.

A former Alberta NDP representative says he’s running as an Independent candidate in the federal election after he was booted from Mark Carney’s Liberal banner.

Rod Loyola was to run in the newly formed riding of Edmonton Gateway, but the Liberals dropped him after a 2009 video surfaced in which he showed support for terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah at a protest.

He was in the middle of his third term as an Alberta legislature member, when he left the provincial legislature in March to run for the Liberals.

Does CTV work for the Poilievre campaign? Or are they just spineless hypocrites?

Doing your job well is all it takes for a woman journalist to get cancelled in Canada.

One tweet from Pierre Poilievre spokesperson Sebastian Skamski created a far-right social media shit-fit that led CTV to kibosh Rachel Gilmore’s election fact-checking segment.

Were it not bad enough that CTV folded like a cheap umbrella to Conservative pressure, they provided Gilmore with no support as she contended with the onslaught of harassment kicked off by the Poilievre campaign and their supporters.

But here’s the kicker: Gilmore has faced so much harassment simply for doing her job that she was literally invited to address the United Nations about it.

When a conservative man experiences any amount of scrutiny, they can bitch and moan their way into a book tour and a podcast.

Jordan Peterson, Ben Shapiro, Pierre Poilievre — none of these men became household names on merit, they simply cried the loudest. The entire conservative movement is composed of insufferable cry babies aided and abetted by spineless corporate media.

It is absolutely disgraceful that CTV would cancel Gilmore, not because of anything she did wrong, but because one Conservative man made a single baseless claim that was amplified by bots and right-wing rage farmers.

Does CTV work for the Poilievre campaign? Or are they just spineless hypocrites?
