Arts Society of Kingsville Presents “Evolving Visions” by Pavlo and Petro Lopata
The Arts Society of Kingsville (A.S.K.) is proud to announce that we will be showcasing for the first time together, the art of our members, Pavlo and Petro Lopata.
This is a must-attend event for all art lovers and collectors, showing 30 original paintings, drawings and multimedia artworks spanning several decades.

This father and son team will be exhibiting their works at Carnegie Arts and Visitor Centre from Wednesday, March 5 until Sunday, March 30 2025, with a reception on Sunday, March 9, 2025, 1-4pm.
Pavlo and Petro Lopata’s exhibit, titled “Evolving Visions” will feature a silent auction in support of the “Come Back Alive” Foundation, which funds purely defensive initiatives for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The father and son team have worked in tandem on many successful projects, including book and magazine covers, a church interior, restorations, and have sold their art together at exhibitions and art fairs for many years.
Bidding sheets are available in the gallery and one original artwork by each of the artists will be auctioned.
Both Pavlo and Petro are established, multi-award winning fine artists based in Kingsville, Ontario. Pavlo’s art is found in many public collections, and with Petro, in the Lviv National Museum of Ukraine.
The A.S.K. Gallery at Carnegie is situated in an Art Deco heritage building constructed in 1914, which formerly housed the Carnegie Library.
Natural lighting from the original tall windows, together with respectfully converted interior, lends itself to reflection and tranquility, creating a perfect setting for viewing creations by these two accomplished artists.

Important Notice for Mail-In Voters
Ballots Are Blank And Must Be Filled In By Voters
As a resident planning to vote by mail in the upcoming election, it’s crucial to be aware of a significant change in the voting process: the mail-in ballots will be blank, requiring you to write in the names of your chosen candidates manually.
This adjustment ensures that every voter has the opportunity to select their preferred candidates directly.

What This Means for You:
Blank Ballot:
Your mail-in ballot will not list any candidates. You must clearly write the full name of the candidate you wish to vote for in the designated space.
Accurate Information:
To ensure your vote counts, it’s essential to have the correct spelling and full name of your chosen candidate.
How to Prepare:
1. Obtain Candidate Information:
Before filling out your ballot, gather the full name of the candidate you intend to vote for. This information can be found through local community centres, public bulletin boards, or by contacting your local electoral office at (833) 415-2910.
Click here to search for candidate, political party, and electoral district information on Elections Ontario website.
2. Share Information Widely:
Since some voters may not have access to digital resources, please share this information with friends, family, and neighbors, especially those who might not be aware of the new ballot format.
Steps to Complete Your Mail-In Ballot:
1. Fill in Candidate Name:
In the appropriate sections of the ballot, write the full name of the candidate you support. Ensure the name is spelled correctly to avoid any potential disqualification.
2. Review Your Ballot:
Double-check that the name is legible and correctly entered.
3. Follow Submission Instructions:
Place your completed ballot in the provided envelope, seal it securely, and return it as per the instructions. Pay attention to any deadlines to ensure your vote is counted.

Need Assistance?
If you have questions or require help with the mail-in voting process, don’t hesitate to reach out to your local electoral office.
They can provide guidance and ensure you have the necessary information to cast your vote accurately. Their phone number is (833) 415-2910.
Click here for the Elections Ontario website.
Your Vote Matters
Participating in elections is a fundamental right and responsibility. By staying informed and assisting others in understanding the new voting procedure, you contribute to a fair and democratic process.
Let’s work together to ensure every voice is heard.

The Fun Times Brigade
From acclaimed author Lindsay Zier-Vogel comes an insightful and heart-rending exploration of motherhood, grief, and the search for identity.
Amy is a new mother, navigating the fog of those bewildering early days and struggling with a role she feels ill-prepared for.
It’s the first time in a decade that she hasn’t been living the busy life of a successful children’s musician, and her sense of self is unravelling.
To make matters worse, her former bandmates have seemingly abandoned her.
In flashbacks, we see Amy’s journey to artistic success—her stumblings as a solo singer-songwriter and her eventual evolution into acclaim as a children’s entertainer.
But as the novel progresses—and Amy grapples with a devastating loss—we come to understand how precarious definitions of artistic success can be and how hard it is to truly find our place in the world.
The Fun Times Brigade examines the enduring challenges of reconciling being an artist with being a mother, and how we ultimately fail and find the need to forgive those we love.
It is also a timely reflection on what it really means to have a good life in a world that demands we have—and be—it all, and asserts that amidst the chaos, we can find our way back to our genuine selves.

The Bay Observer has learned that the first residents of the City’s Barton-Tiffany tiny shelter encampment have moved in to the site. The plan is to move occupants to the site in stages to allow for an orderly transition. The city has issued a flyer to neighboring residents that lists a number of measures being taken to minimize impacts to the nearby residential area these include:
- A commitment to pick up garbage regularly and keep the shelter site and surrounding area clean.
- 24/7 supervision and security. Staff will work to address any noise and disturbances and to de-escalate conflicts. Fires will not be allowed.
- Hamilton Police will be available to address safety and criminal matters
- The site will allow drugs and will offer harm reduction and connection to medical supports.
- Pets will be allowed “where it is safe to do so. Policies are being developed to ensure the safety of shelter residents, neighbours and pets. Policies will address both on-site and site-adjacent considerations including pet-related noise.
The site consists of 40 heated and cooled double cabin units with trailers for washrooms, showers and laundry. There is a common building for residents and staff. Case management workers from the Good Shepherd are on site providing mental health and harm reduction support but who will also assist in transitioning residents to permanent housing.
The City of Hamilton has promised to remove encampments within a 1 kilometer radius of the Barton-Tiffany site, a radius that would include Pier 4 and Bayfront Parks.
