Alec Baldwin's involuntary manslaughter case, stemming from the 2021 death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film Rust, has ended following the withdrawal of an appeal to a judge's order dismissing the case.
As Variety reports, special prosecutor Kari Morrissey announced yesterday (December 23) she had withdrawn her appeal, with the Arizona attorney general's office saying that it "did not intend to exhaustively pursue the appeal on behalf of the prosecution."
Baldwin's involuntary manslaughter trial ran for three days before being dismissed by Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer. Baldwin's attorneys claimed that the prosecution had hidden evidence about ammunition that could have been relevant to the case.
Baldwin acknowledged the withdrawal of the appeal with a post on Instagram, sharing a photo of himself with the caption "Link in Bio," directing followers to reporting on the case's end by The New York Times.
Variety notes that Hutchins's family will pursue a civil case against Baldwin and the film's producers in state court in New Mexico.

This cannabis strain got Kendrick stuck in my head in my head for hours

2025 is upon us and the world is literally and metaphorically on fire, so why not burn one down as everything burns around us?
This month’s column will focus on a hybrid and a full-on sativa from the Saint-Eustache-based C3 Innovative Solutions, with each one respectively coming from their Fleurons and Be Humble brands. Though both strains let me ride plenty of nice little waves, and the bud moisture between the two is about the same, there’s a noticeable difference in both smell and flavour. Both are in the higher THC percentage range, more specifically the upper 20s (in fairness, most of the strains I’ve tried for this column are), and therefore not for the faint of heart.
Fleurons Menu Dessert (Sativa)
This one makes my mind race a bit, but it’s a fun one. But it also knocks me right on my ass at its peak. It’s a head high that keeps you alert, but in a comfortable kind of way. It also makes me hungry enough to order sushi and eat a whole bunch of bananas. Make of that what you will.
Speaking of bananas, the fruity aroma of the buds while smelling the bag is difficult to ignore, but the sugary smell it’s also advertised as having isn’t quite so obvious to me. But maybe that’s because the illustrations in this product’s marketing feature a slice of cake, hence my hoping in vain.
It’s quite strong, but you enjoy a nice high (albeit an intense one), the buds smell nice, the terpenes have a lemony feel to them, and the high itself is a very long-lasting one. 8.5/10
Be Humble Découverte (Hybrid)
As you can see, this brand is called Be Humble, and that means Kendrick Lamar will be stuck in my head — and now, yours — for hours to come. In stark contrast to Dessert, this stuff boasts a strong scent of both pepper and liquor; almost like I’m inhaling a shot of whiskey.
That alone immediately tells me I’m not in for the same experience with this stuff. When I vape it, the peppery taste is apparent, just as it is when I smell the buds. As you can imagine, it doesn’t go down quite as smoothly on my throat, and also leaves me more dehydrated and in need of fresh water from my Brita filter every so often.
My eyes are the epicentre of where my head high is with this one, and it makes me feel a bit more tired when I smoke it. On the other hand, it’s a calmer strain than the Dessert one, and doesn’t make my mind go in circles like a sativa sometimes can. It also made me very attached to my bed, and specifically my weighted blanket. In other words, it’s a rather fitting strain for my planned winter hibernation. 7.5/10

It’s Christmas eve, meaning Santa himself is making his last preparations before the big day, and at Polo Park, Winnipeggers seem to be doing the same.
“I feel like Christmas eve is technically tonight, so I did it before. But other than that, yeah I’m a little late this year,” said one Winnipegger.
“Haven’t started yet, just starting now,” said another Winnipegger.
When asked who locals were Christmas shopping for, many said family.
“My mom mostly, because I kind of procrastinated shopping for her,” said one Winnipegger.
“Honestly, I’m looking for gifts for my littles, we have little children in our family so I’m looking for gifts for them. I’m looking for gifts for my pastor, I’m still trying to get gifts for my friends and my loved ones. So, I’m trying to scramble around, still lots to do,” said another local.
Locals were also asked what they wanted for Christmas.
“I just bought a new house and got engaged, so some stuff like that, I’m hoping for a lawn mower, and some home things, boring house stuff,” said one local.
“Well, I’d love a new car. But anything, I’m grateful, forever and always for everything”, said another local.
“Love, and togetherness. Yes, honestly that’s what Christmas is all about. Sharing of the love of Christ, and just fellowship and showing kindness. Please reach out to those who may be lonely or don’t have anyone to celebrate with, please just show kindness and kind hearts,” said another.

Between his tour with Crazy Horse, long-lost lyrics and all manner of archival releases, Neil Young was a gift that kept on giving this year – and the songwriting legend has one more treat for the faithful before 2024 is out.
Earlier this month, Young launched his own take on the fireplace channel, pairing the calming visual of a crackling wood stove with 27 songs from across his catalogue.
The setlist, found below, pulls from Young catalogue staples like Harvest, Harvest Moon and After the Gold Rush, along with renditions of seasonal favourites from 1994's Seven Gates: A Christmas Album, released by his longtime friend and pedal steel accompanist Ben Keith.
Looking ahead to 2025, Canadian artists will pay tribute to Young's music at Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern on January 23.
The four-piece "worship band" dubbed Weld — featuring Eamon McGrath, Aaron Goldstein (City and Colour, Daniel Romano, Lee Harvey Osmond), Peter Landi and Anna Ruddick (Chantal Kreviazuk, Fefe Dobson, Ian Blurton) — will reinterpret well-loved tracks from Young's Zuma and vaunted ditch trilogy of albums: Time Fades Away, On the Beach and Tonight's the Night.
Tickets for the performance are now available, with further details available via the Horseshoe Tavern's official website.
While you're listening, revisit Exclaim!'s list of Neil Young albums ranked from worst to best.

Hamilton Police are warning the public of a suspicious male approaching young females.
On December 5, at approximately 3:00 p.m. a thirteen-year-old female was walking alone in the area of Gemini Drive on the Hamilton Mountain. During her walk, a vehicle approached her, and a male driver told her to, “Get in the car to have fun and drive around”. The female ignored the driver and continued on her way. The vehicle followed her, but then conducted a U-turn and left the area.
Then, a week ago, at approximately 9:30 p.m. a sixteen-year-old female was walking alone in the area of Upper Ottawa Street and Queensdale Avenue East when she was also approached by a vehicle. This time, the driver slowed down beside her and attempted to make conversation with her. The female ignored the male, and the vehicle drove away. Moments later, the same vehicle was spotted again, and the driver began to shout, “You’re my friend”. The female then continued on, but the vehicle slowly followed behind. The female decided to run to the closest house and knock on the door where she was let inside. The male continued to yell towards her until the door shut. Only then did the male leave the area.
Police believe both occurrences were committed by the same suspect. He was described by both females as East Indian, in his 20’s, with a smaller build. He had a small beard and spikey hair. Notably, one of the females stated that the male smiled the during the whole interaction.
The vehicle is described as a grey or silver sedan. No license plate was obtained.
Hamilton Police are reminding the public to always be vigilant when out walking alone. If anyone notices any suspicious, they are advised to report it immediately to Police.
Anyone with information that might assist Police with this investigation, are asked to contact Detective Tremis at 905-546-8964. Additionally, for those who wish to remain anonymous, they cane contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or visit: http://www.crimestoppershamilton.com
